Unit Backpacking Training 2003

At Mataguay Scout Reservation, April 12-13, 2003

We met the High Adventure Team at the Old Commissary bright and early.

There were 3 other troops for about 30+ scouts.

Our first trailside rest stop was an opportunity to eat some snacks.

Here Ari and Fred, our Trek Leaders, tell the scouts about sun protection.

Tyler, Alex, Jason and Nathan had a leisurely trail lunch.

The wildflowers were out in full bloom everywhere.

Out in the distance is Lake Henshaw.

We had frequent stops along the trail to rest and learn about backpacking.

We made camp at Cubland by the A-Frame.

Jason and Alex start setting up their camp site.

After a hot meal for dinner, we went to the A-Frame for a slideshow on low impact camping.

The rain started at about 5am, but everyone stayed warm and dry in their tents.

Alex packs up to go home.
