Whitewater Rafting on the Lower Kern River, August 2002

We started at the Rio Bravo resort. We had use of the pool, so everyone started by getting pre-soaked.

Here is our bus that took us and the rafts 4 miles up the river to start our journey.

Waiting impatiently for the guides to get started.

The dad's listen up on what our guides tell us about the upcoming trip.

We all had to pick out our PFD, get it sized and cinched real tight.

On the bus ready to hit the road.

We started the trip several miles up the road on the edge of the Lower Kern.

Everyone listens to the safety briefing while the rafts are unloaded.

The trip down the river was really fun. It took over an hour and we splashed our way down plenty of Class II and III rapids.

There was a long stretch of river that we all got to swim and float down. The water temperature was perfect for a hot August day.

Here is the last of the 5 rafts working their way towards the pull out point.

Time to end the first run. Everyone out!

Getting the raft drained and out of the river.

The rafts get put back on the trailer and we headed back to the Rio Bravo resort for some lunch.

After lunch we headed back up the river and did the same run again, except we also got to ride in inflatable kayaks.
