Mt. Baden-Powell Day Hike, August 24, 2002

At the Vincent Gap trail head ready to begin the hike.

Matt, Alex and Ian stop along the trail to eat a quick snack.

Tyler and Mr. Creswell heading up the trail. The trail gains over 2800 feet in less than 4 miles.

Traversing the final ridge towards the summit. We were getting repeatedly buzzed by gliders flying overhead.

The white box contains a registry to record your visit to the summit. The box was an Eagle Scout project.

One of the many gliders that were flying around the summit. At one point there were at least six.

The view towards the high desert was extremely clear. To the south we could make out the Channel Islands and smoke from a fire at Lake Moreno in San Diego county – nearly 150 miles away!

Dan takes in the view of the neighboring peaks towards the east.

5 scouts made the trip to the summit.
