Snowboarding at Mt. High, March 2002Troop 679 ventured up to the Mt. High ski resort for some snowboarding and skiing fun. The weather was great with mostly sunny skies, mild temperatures and no wind. The snow coverage was pretty limited and by the early afternoon it was getting pretty slushy. Most of the boys had never tried snowboarding before and by the end of the day they were starting to get the hang of it. They did get tired of the stand up, fall down routine. Everyone ended the day completely soaked and cold, but thankfully no one got hurt. |

A panoramic view from the top of the mountain overlooking the desert in the distance.

The excitement builds as they get ready to take their first snowboarding lesson.

Alex is getting the hang of it!

Stand up, fall down, repeat...

Jason and Nathan trying not to collide with one another.

Snowboarding is not as easy as it looks.

Mr. Hill's ancient ski boots were the only casualty! They lasted about 2 runs and then self-destructed.

Bringing the Troop 679 flag and setting up a base camp was a great idea.

Taking time for a quick lunch break.

The snow got really slushy as the day warmed up. Everyone ended the day soaking wet from falling down and sitting in it.

Our SPL shows how it is supposed to be done.

Hanging out at the base camp waiting for the scouts to return from the slopes.
