Cooking breakfast at the camp site.

Group shot. Getting ready to hit the trail to the Visitor Center.

The Visitor Center is underground. Here the boys check out the cactus gardens on the roof.

The ranger gave us a tour of the native plant garden at the Visitor center. Here we are looking at Barrel and Cholla cactus.

Ever smell a Creosote Bush? Water sprayed on it gives a strong smell. Rain storms in the desert have this smell.

The trailhead for the Borrego Palm Canyon.

Desert pupfish inhabit this small man-made pond at the trailhead.

On the trail the boys stop to watch some Desert Bighorn Sheep. They are on the left side of the picture at the ledge.

The Desert Bighorn Sheep blend into the rocks and are very hard to spot.

We counted seven sheep, including two rams and a baby.

Here is another close up shot.

The sheep were about 75 feet away and didn't seem concerned how close we were.

Ahead is the Palm Oasis. There was lots of water up in this part of the canyon.

There are over 1000 palms throughout this canyon.

Luke and Nathan climbed up the rocky side walls of the canyon.

Mr. Creswell and Mr. Burney rest and get ready for the 2 mile hike back to the camp site.
